Recently I have discovered a lot of interesting songs because I am officially the main beatboxer for my acapella group this year. We will be going for competitions soon, and I have also founded and am president for a beatboxing club on my campus! I am learning a lot about how to start a club, how to be in a leadership position, and how I wanted beatboxing to grow on my campus.
I have recently also gotten interested in the liproll bass, because I saw Wing’s (professional beatboxer) song called Dopamine, and I’m obsessed with it!! The start is extremely catchy with the mouth trumpet along with throat bass. I can do both the sounds, but its super difficult to hold out the throat bass right now because it hurts especially when you’re first getting used to the sound. The sound itself doesn’t sound bad, but my throat isn’t trained to hold that sound out for so long. The throat bass is honestly one of my favorite sounds, but it will take time to be able to hold that for a minute or so.
For my beatboxing club, I really want to have a “competitive wing” which basically means a group of experienced beatboxers will get together and create songs, or collaborate with other clubs on campus to publish songs. We could also remake songs to start with, so that if we don’t have a musical director we can still make something accurate and that sounds good.
I don’t have much more to say because the club is just brand new and the meetings will start next week onwards, but I will post next week if I have more updates!
